It is with sadness that we inform you of the death of Ken Spengler, father of KAMII member Julie Volchenboum and grandfather of Max (Jeriann Beiter), Zachary, Ari, and Sophie. Ken is survived by his beloved wife, Paula C. Spengler (née Albano); his daughter, Lisa Spengler; his brother James Spengler (Susan); and his nephew Allen Spengler.

Ken was born in Chicago and grew up in Kelvyn Park. He was an award-winning science teacher, talented musician, avid electric rail fan, respected model railroad craftsman, and dedicated civic volunteer. He entertained students, friends, and family alike with his deadpan humor and pranks. He loved to travel with his wife, Paula, and made friends around the world. He was dedicated to his family, students, and friends and would lend a hand to anyone he could.

His loving kindness, quiet strength, and grace will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
